At the core of every movement, uprising, celebration, and protest throughout history, is the most basic of needs; to be seen and to be known. From this idea grew what is now the centerpiece of our event, the Tree of Knowledge. And while this is not a new concept in and of itself, to us it represents the very path to acceptance. Words. Words become knowledge, which in turn becomes understanding. Words are what we speak to fight back against the ignorance that plagues us. Books are what we read to gain a greater understanding of the humanity that surrounds us. Knowledge becomes the spark that lights the flame of Pride. Pride is the ground on which we stand. Together.
It is our belief that if we work as one to plant the seeds, then the trees that spring forth produce a bounty of understanding. It is our hope that the rainbow of humanity exists not only within us, but outside of us. As we learn, we grow. As we grow, we reach upwards and onwards. Together.
